Helping Students Succeed in Life
Psychoeducational Assessment & Multi-Disciplinary Services designed to enhance student success.
Psychoeducational Assessment & Multi-Disciplinary Services designed to enhance student success.
Psychoeducational Assessments are completed in a comfortable home setting, where students "visit with Miss Shawna" (we never use the word testing!) for learning tasks, and the opportunity to engage in some fun activities like baking, Lego building, jumping on the trampoline, or going for a short walk during their break times. Visiting a family home may not be as formal, but we have found this option works great with students of all ages, especially so with those who are prone to being a little more nervous than others.
Paperwork is sent electronically and initial parent consultations can be virtually if preferred, saving parents from having take time off of work. We also offer to meet students virtually ahead of time as well, so they know who they are meeting with, and what to expect. We know this process can be overwhelming, and so we make every effort to help parents and students feel as comfortable and confident as possible. If you would rather an Assessment be done at a library or in a community office setting, we will do our best to arrange this for you. Your comfort and peace of mind is top priority.
We know that life and learning is easier and more enjoyable when a student's learning profile and feelings are fully understood. That's why we conduct comprehensive Psychoeducational Assessments -so we know how a student learns in terms of their abilities, strengths, and frustration points. In order for a student to be as successful as possible, we must first understand how they learn and how they feel. Knowing these things can provide great insight into their needs at home and school.
We also understand that children are complex and often have many needs, and so we have put together a team of trusted professionals who are dedicated to helping children and families become all they were meant to be.
If you are concerned that your child may have a Learning Disability, ADHD, an Intellectual Disability, or a behavioural or emotional challenge, a Psychoeducational Assessment can help identify these challenges, and provide recommendations and resources to help. An Assessment provides information about how children learn, specific academic levels, and areas which may benefit from remediation. Please click on our Assessment page for more detailed information about the Psychoeducational Assessment process.
In addition to providing Psychoeducational Assessment services, we also offer a variety of other services, including private tutoring, respite care & life skills support, counselling/psychotherapy, and Speech/Language services. Click here for more information.

We are so happy to be back doing in-person Psychoeducational Assessments with students, with increased safety measures in place. This consists of virtual intake interviews (when appropriate), mask wearing, distancing, increased sanitizing of materials, the electronic exchanges of documents, and online standardized rating scales.
Please note: As of March 3rd we are booking for September 2022. We do however keep an active cancellation list- if you wish to be placed on this list please let us know.
