Helping Students Succeed in Life
Psychoeducational Assessment & Multi-Disciplinary Services designed to enhance success in all areas of one's life.
Psychoeducational Assessment & Multi-Disciplinary Services designed to enhance success in all areas of one's life.
Psychoeducational Assessments are completed in a comfortable home setting, where students "visit with Miss Shawna" (we never use the word testing!) and have the opportunity to do some baking, play with Lego, jump on the trampoline or go for a short walk during break time, or simply work away while cuddled up with our family's small teddy-bear dog, Duke. Visiting a family home may not be as formal or tranditional, but we have found this option to work really well with students of all ages, and especially so with those who are prone to being a little more anxious.
Paperwork is sent and reviewed a head of time virtually, saving parents from having take time off of work. We also meet our students and parents virtually ahead of time as well, so they know who they are meeting with, and what to expect. We know this process can be overwhelming, and will make every effort to help parents and students feel as comfortable and confident as possible. If you would rather an Assessment be done at a library or in an office setting, or in your child's private school setting, we will do our best to arrange this for you. Your comfort and peace of mind is top priority.
We know that life and learning is easier and more enjoyable when a student's learning profile and feelings are fully understood. That's why we conduct comprehensive Psychoeducational Assessments -so we know how a student learns in terms of their abilities, strengths, and frustration points. In order for a student to be as successful as possible, we must first understand how they learn and how they feel. Knowing these things can provide great insight into their needs at home and school.
We also understand that children are complex and often have many needs, and so we have put together a team of trusted professionals who are dedicated to helping children and families become all they were meant to be.
If you are concerned that your child may have a Learning Disability, ADHD, an Intellectual Disability, Autism Spectrum Disorder, or a behavioural or emotional challenge, a Psychoeducational Assessment can help identify these challenges, and provide valuable recommendations and resources to help. If your child is home-schooled or in tutoring, an Assessment can provide information about how they learn, specific academic levels, and areas which may benefit from remediation. Please click on our Assessment page for more detailed information about the Psychoeducational Assessment process.
In addition to providing Psychoeducational Assessment services, we also offer a variety of other professional services, including private tutoring, respite care & life skills support, counselling/psychotherapy, and Speech/Language services. Click here for more information.
